The Orchards at Niles

My Mother spent exactly one week at this facility. By the seventh day we had her taken to the ER for a blood sugar of 528. Apparently this was going on for days and she ended up with ketoacidoses. She was saying they were trying to kill her. Now I wonder if she was right. DO NOT RECOMEND!

Filthy, it's really not a place for recovery. Some of the staff is very nice and that is the only Reason they get 1 star. They allow TV to Blair loudly all night long so none of the people here can rest. It smells like dried urine very sad just pitiful

My 92 year old father has been at Riveridge for three months now. While no one loves leaving their parents in long term care, his care needs exceed my skills and home set-up and I needed a place that was close and where I felt he would be cared for and safe. From the moment I knew I needed a bed until now, after three months, I feel he is in the best place possible. The building is definitely older but still clean and cared for and I can't say enough about the nurses and CNA's who care for dad on a daily basis. Staffing is difficult in all health care settings and the same is true at Riveridge so you do see many different faces each week but seriously, some of the very best people I have ever met work there! While most of the staff is great the directors and the administrator are very rude and liars my mother was released on Monday 12/2/24 she was to receive her social security check on the 3rd she called and talked to the director Erica she told my mom you can not have your check transferred back until your balance is paid off my mom then asked her how she was to get her medicine and pay her other bills. She also reminded them that she had already planned on paying on her balance, and had set up a payment plan, to which Erica replied that's not her problem. My sister and I called and talked to Erica, Erica then called my mom back and told her that she is going to turn my sister and I in for misusing her funds which is false. The building itself may be older, but the staff are so kind & friendly. This facility always seems to have fun holidays planned for the residents and staff. Everyone is always so welcoming, and their management staff always has a listening ear.
