I volunteered for the 2026 homeless count and saw firsthand how disconnected this organization is from real, measurable outcomes. Despite receiving hundreds of millions in public funding over decades, the conditions on the ground have worsened. They didn't answer any questions and didn't give me any helpful resources other than a card with a 611 on it. No contact. No help. There is a striking lack of transparency, accountability, and visible impact relative to the scale of funding. Volunteers and communities deserve to see clear results, not just repeated counts and administrative cycles. Los Angeles needs solutions that prioritize real housing, follow-through, and results—not bureaucracy.

Good God, how this "authority" lies. You give its intake system plenty of information about someone in need and on the streets and who is right there in front of you, always there, 24-7, and instead of being honest about how dysfunctional their system is or how overwhelmed their staff is, the email bot defaults to blaming you for not giving enough information and/or saying the person wasn't there. BS. VOTE NITHYA RAMAN.

A a case worker, I have been very pleased with the training LAHSA has provided along with assisting a few of my families maintain their housing by providing rental arrears. Obtaining vouchers or units that are income based is a very long process with very limited resources. Being a housing navigator myself, it is very difficult to inform your members you are on the list for a unit but we cannot provide a timeline for when you will get matched. It can be 3 months, 6 months, or 1 years or longer.
