Thalia Gardens Rehabilitation and Nursing

We sent my mom here for physical therapy after a hip fracture while we were in town. They told my brother what day she would be ready to go and confirmed it the day before he was to drive to Virginia to pick her up. He had to drive back down from Ohio to get her. At first the charge nurse tried to refuse to allow him to take our mom out despite the fact that he has guardianship of her and tried to tell him they had no record of him. They had been talking to him every other day since she had been there. He was finally able to get her and brought her back to Ohio. They are holding her records hostage from the VA so she's stuck in a hotel room while we pay out of pocket for her round the clock care because her home in Ohio can't take her back until she the records are released. I absolutely love Thalia Gardens Rehab and Nursing. My aunt is a resident and they treat her like a queen. The food? ABSOLUTELY NO ONE should complain. 2 of the cooks, Josh and Mike, do a superb job. I tasted the baked fish and it was seasoned to perfection. I am including 2 of their dishes and they look like they belong in a restaurant! Thank you Thalia for all you do to make my aunt feel at home away from home!! Update!! I still love this place! The cafeteria staff treats the residents like royalty. When the residents eat in the cafeteria for lunch you would think they are in a fancy restaurant. The tables are set and there is an area where the food is prepared. My mom was in the facility for a couple weeks for rehab after a car accident. First I must say that the staff is so friendly and nice. This made my mom's stay much more pleasant. There were a few concerns and I took the time to write the administrator a letter but unfortunately, I never heard back. This was disappointing as my letter focused on the positive and provided constructive criticism mainly in the areas of communication and follow through amongst the staff but starting at the administrative level. Hopefully they will accept my feedback to make the facility's rating go from a 4 to a 5.

I would like to say that Thalia Garden’s Rehabilitation and Nursing facilities is one of the cleanest freshest nursing homes I have visited in a very long time in the city of Virginia Beach.The patients are well cared for. My dear Sister is a patient, and is in high spirits when I visit with her. during my recent visit two staff members came in to give her her daily bath, and so the care and concern is fantastic! The staff is kind, friendly and professional so I would definitely recommend anyone who has a loved one to consider this location.
