Stony Brook Advanced Pediatric Care

I can't believe how horrible our experience was for booking the appointment to the doctor herself. We originally had seen another pediatric pulmonologist in the same practice. She prescribed medication for both of my sons and instructed we follow up in 2 weeks. I made the appointments in office and when I called to confirm the appointment they said there was none on file and we wouldn't be able to see that doctor until September. Since they were still having issues and we couldn't wait I accepted to see another physician which brought us to Dr. Kevill. I had called back another time to confirm the appointment time and was told that there was only one appointment made for one of my sons, I explained they both were prescribed medication and both needed to follow up for the ongoing issues. Had an appt. for our new born today at 10am. Us being on 0 sleep and first time parents, I made the mistake of thinking it was 11:15am (confused it with my wife's appt.). At approximately 11am, while on the way to the appt. the office calls me and tells me the provider told her to call us to reschedule the appt. since we missed it. I apologized and explained the situation. I even explained that the baby was discharged from the hospital yesterday and we were informed she would need to be seen within 48 hours. Being that the 48 hours mark would be a Sunday, it was a necessity for her to be seen today. The lady went to check with the provider (Michelle Lee) who refused to squeeze her in for an appt. 1.5 hr wait time for a physical appt! Sadly, since they took over Smithtown pediatrics a few years ago, I have not had a good experience. All the doctors that were outstanding have left, and the new doctors do not seen to make me feel comfortable with the information given and/or exam. What has pushed me over the edge is that bringing my son in for a physical and arriving on time for our appt only to wait over an hour and half to be seen! That is completely unacceptable. I understand things happen but at least call your patients to let them know the doctors are behind or give the option to reschedule!

I used to go to Kids First Pediatric in Port Jeff Station, they were great. Then Stony Brook Pediatrics bought them and then closed that branch. When I call to get a sick appointment they can never see me that day or the next day. What good is a sick appointment 2 days later? Thank goodness for PM Pediatrics. I scheduled my daughter's physicals months in advance and then got a call that they had to cancel on the day of the appointment. I called them on my lunch break and the appointment line is closed from 12:30-1:30. I cannot express how horrible they treat patients businesswise. The medical staff has been great to work with when I can get an appointment, but it is a terribly understaffed practice and the office is not equipped to handle their patients. I continued to be disappointed with each visit to this facility. We schedule our check up for our new born (9 months) 6 months ago. Our most recent visit we were told that his upcoming appointment will be rescheduled due to lack of physician, and the next available appointment is a few months out. The support staff offers no solution and now leaves us scrambling to search for new care provider to ensure our child receive the proper checkup. While we have been satisfied with the physicians at this practice, everything else has been an utter disaster. My advice, looks elsewhere.
