St. Peter's Nursing & Rehabilitation Center

My mother is currently in the rehab center with liver and kidney disease. She waited over an hour for some one to help to the bathroom and has had 2 days of food that does not comply with her diet for liver, kidney disease plus diabetes. She arrived a little after 11 am sat and didn't have anything to drink until 5pm. Going to pay a visit on Monday, I get maybe being a little short staffed but doesn't give you the right to neglect the patients.

The rooms are clean and the staff are nice but they have some one size fits all protocol that did not work for a patient with Crohn’s requiring her medication along with not getting her pain medication for about 24 hours and she had a severe broken arm. Staff couldn’t get to the room so this patient believed she was a burden and decided she would get up on her own with a wheel chair but couldn’t pick the breaks with a broken arm so she fell. So many more things happened so my sister took her home so she could get the safe care she needed. I called the nursing director 3 times before traveling over seas to try and work out the challenges before leaving my mother but did not get a return call.

Some staff are very rude others nice and professional. Lack of communication is high. I expressed concerns for my client who is under their care and I was completely dismissed. These are people, not numbers.

The lack of communication of the directors of departments between the family and facility is unacceptable. The CNAs were amazing to my family member. However they are so understaffed that it would take about a minimum of 30 minutes before they could help meet my family members needs!

My Mom came home yesterday after almost a month of recovery here! She had her second hip surgery, and I want to say how pleased I was with St. Peter's Rehab. Yes, they need more aides and the nursing staff I am sure is working many hours overtime, however, I was there often and was genuinely happy with the care, cleaning schedule and food service. The rehab portions of her stay were fantastic, and whenever I called with a question, they were always so kind and helpful. I was not concerned about her safety there at all. In addition, music is always playing in the hallways and that creates a soothing atmosphere for residents and staff. This is a great place for a short term rehab hospital. My husband Ed and I are quite thankful.
