St. Joseph's Health Hospital

My wife and I went to this hospital to visit our daughter-in-law who gave birth to our granddaughter. She and my son stayed three days in the hospital. I have noticed that the hospital staff were very professional and caring.

Our newborn son had to stay a few nights in the NICU department. Everyone here was really great to us. NICU, Labor and Delivery, employees in the lobby, literally everyone. Treated us like family here, made sure we were comfortable, very clean. My son was cared for so well and recovered quickly. Thank you to everyone we encountered on our visit. We appreciate everything you did for our little boy.

I’m writing this review because I’m home now and finally feel safe to. If you are going to undergo any type of heart surgery, RUN. I’m not being dramatic. I was referred and Dr Lutz who was supposed to be one of the best for bypass surgery. Imagine all the conversations that you had with your provider before surgery including concerns about pain, and the fear of recovery. Now imagine all those conversations never happened or the advice you were given was wrong. Do you think I was told I would wake up intubated in the ICU trying to talk over the tube because I was terrified and in so much pain. I have permanent nerve damage to my tongue now. The reason you become scared is because all your sedation and pain medication is stopped. CVICU protocol is to only treat pain with oral medica

Long wait times even for cardiac patients, cardiac patients placed in hallways and next to people with contagious diseases, some staff are great, some have a complete lack of bedside manner. Providers so seem to make sound decisions but there isn’t consistent quality in nursing staff. There are patients all over the hallways with complete lack of dignity and privacy- it looks like a war zone . Staff are loud and obnoxious in hallways at night- would be understandable in emergency situations but most of the time the noise was not about emergencies. Curtains on rooms are see though.

ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE. I am 9 months pregnant currently rushed to the hospital in a snow storm to get help because I couldn’t breathe. My cough was so severe I came in crying in pain with my lungs obviously inflamed. They had to redo my name and date of birth 3 separate times after getting it wrong. Than I sat waited a while and the lady couldn’t even put my insurance in for me. For 25 minutes she was too concerned with what my insurance was. IM OUT OF STATE. After I said my states state insurance several times. They brushed me off and said sign into my chart do the rest and took off. So lazy. Like what?? Mind you it’s a whole different app than what I’ve used. Than sent me back to the ER waiting room. They took my test than I waited 2 hrs still no test back for a damn Covid and flu test???
