Signature HealthCARE of Gainesville

My father was in Signature for two weeks. I was a little hesitant when I read the reviews. However the first night I arrived to visit my Dad all my worries were set aside. Everyone there from the front desk girl to the nurses and staff went above and beyond to make sure my father was comfortable and taken care of. Several times they served something for dinner my Father didn't like and he requested a salad. They made sure he got a big salad on the nights he didn't like what was being served. There were several times I had a question and had to call in. Someone always returned my call in a timely manner. Thank You to everyone at Signature for making my Fathers time there move fast. Our family recently had the not so easy decision to choose a rehab facility for my father. We were hesitant and afraid, but after the visit of their admissions director she invited us to the facility and was impressed with the cleanliness and friendly staff. My family member was there for about 20 days and the staff was nothing, but helpful and reachable at all times. A big thank you to the rehab team, the admission girls and their social worker.

My father was moved to this facility after experiencing a stroke while undergoing DBS surgery. After 3 weeks we had him transfer back to the VA because of neglect. 75% of the staff is rude. Including front desk. The director was rude and insulting. The director of nursing is cold and rude. Most don't wear PPE or worn incorrectly(nose exposed). Dirty. Smells like feces. The room was not cleaned before moved in. The blinds/wall had food on it. The tray table was disgusting. He said that nightshift yells at him and the other residents. No one would give him a shower. When they finally did he was dropped four times. He weighs 150lbs. I had to groom him, clip nails, cut his hair and facial hair. They wouldn't provide him a sling. I provided one. It took a week to find him a proper wheel chair.

I spent a week there, and it was hell. I arrived at 3 pm after a knee replacement, and their meds come from Jacksonville around midnight so I didn't get my pain meds for the first 12 hours. After that, the doses were always late, like an hour. They were constantly running out of clean towels. I wanted to transfer to Woodlands but their social worker told me to ask the Signature one to fax my information, which I did -- Wednesday, Thursday, Friday. She kept telling me and Woodlands that she was sending it but never did (didn't want to miss out on that Medicare money), so I lost that bed but couldn't check out of Signature and go home until Monday. I was basically imprisoned there for the last 5 days, during which I had one single PT session.

This place is overall amazing. The facility shows compassion, respect and integrity towards their residents and staff all around. I would definitely recommend for their upscale Rehabilitation! Thank you to Isabel in admissions for working on getting my loved one into the facility!
