Sheppard Air Force Base Pharmacy

This is the first time using the new facility. I had my clinic fax a script to them. When I showed up, my name was not in their system (I’m a retired 20 year veteran). I had to go upstairs to Tricare, which only took a few minutes. Now that I was back in the system, they couldn’t find my script. The next day I returned with a hand written script. I told the clerk that I’d come back next day to get the drugs. She told me to just wait as it would be filled in about 15 minutes. It was!! All staff were friendly and very helpful. The only reason I give them a 4 is that they do not have a phone. You cannot call the pharmacy to ask questions; like “did you get my prescription?” You have to drive and wait in line. Fortunately, on my two visits, there was no line. Great service which would

Will go back. Did not have time to look at alot of things. Will check out the BX and commissary. It was really nice. I was under the impression it was small and older. I did enjoy seeing the planes sitting in places.

They were so nice and helpful, I cannot praise them enough, they really care about helping people.

The new system began with total chaos but is now beginning to do what it was designed to do. Service is getting better as we learn how to use the system. The problems are not the making of the pharmacy staff but rather the system . With time, all will be much more efficient. More than once I've waited for my prescription only to be told after an hour that it is out of stock. This wouldn't be a problem if the technician at the window when I checked in confirmed the meds I was receiving. If they know at check in that I need a medication that is out of stock, why can't they tell me that to begin with. I realize I'm a retiree and considered not important to them, but still... from now on I will go elsewhere and pay out of pocket for my meds.
