Shawnee Health Murphysboro

It’s finally time to say goodbye to Shawnee healthcare in Murphysboro. Customer service is incredibly poor. I have had people that were seen before me because they did not speak English and the bilingual employee was the next one available, so that person got a cut in front of me. Why should I be forced to wait longer because the person behind me couldn’t speak English? Today I went in and they wanted the number in my household and my income. They said it was so they could get more federal funding and if I ever lost my insurance, they’d know what sliding scale fee to put me on. That did not make any sense to me and upon further inquiry, I learned that they are trying to get more federal Funding to support the large number of “non-citizens “ coming in for free healthcare.

The staff and services are, normally, great. But, twice now, they've missed me on two refills that I've called on Thursdays for, never heard back. Reminded them again Friday, never heard back. Now, I have a weekend of pain with a labor-heavy job. All while calling Wal-Mart every day for them to tell me my doctor's office is the one that's not replying.

Incompetent and dangerous. I went in struggling with PPD/PPA 9 months postpartum and saw Theresa Johnson. I was not only judged but was told I was just overwhelmed with motherhood and told to put my baby in daycare, stop breastfeeding and sleep train..instead of actually being offered medical help for a chemical and hormonal imbalance. If 0 stars were available, that’s what this practice would receive. Edit to add: my husband was denied a refill on his blood pressure medicine (a medicine he has been on for over a year) by the same practitioner until he was seen. However, they refused to schedule him for an appt before his medicine ran out.

Absolutely incompetent and should not be allowed to practice medicine. "Appalachian ER" staff seriously needs training on how to handle trauma victims and not gaslight them or say physical assault is ok. I would recommend anyone who needs help to drive as far as needed away from this place. Happy to follow up with details and documentation to anyone who is interested. I will not be bullied by a so called health care provider. Edited to add: the so called Manager will argue, deny, insult and gaslight you to protect their employees. Beware. You have been warned.

Went with an undiagnosed autoimmune disease. I had to switch doctors in order to find out what was wrong with me.
