Shady Oaks Healthcare

Had my mother in Shady Oaks Nursing home after her hip surgery. I always smelled urine throughout, and the one day, they tried to give everyone bad milk with their dinner, then they didn’t even put meat on her hamburger. The main office felt with my concerns with a huff. Never would I put anyone I care about back into THIS home.

My mom was 82 when Springfield Hospital transferred her to Shady Oaks. It was only supposed to be for some therapy & then go home. This was during COVID. My niece stopped by to see her the next morning; what she found was a nightmare. First she went to her window but her curtains were closed. She stopped at the desk and they tried to stop her from seeing her, but she forced herself into her room. She found our mom laying flat on her back on a mattress with no bedding. Her legs were hanging onto the floor & she was wearing only a diaper, begging for my niece to help her. Our mom had a feeding tube in her & was supposed to be elevated. My niece ( our mom’s granddaughter) screamed for help and several nurses came and my niece yelled to help sit mom up so her feeding tube wasn’t backin

It's a nursing home. BUT the staffing seems adequate, knowledgeable,and caring. I was impressed that the building does not smell like urine. Not even back in the lockdown unit. To me, THAT says a lot right there.

The house to the right (if North is up) was my grandparents house. I recall homemade donuts and hunting for rolliepollies. I don't know anything about the nursing home.

This facility is old and outdated. The employee turn over here is extremely poor therefore keeping this facility understaffed and overworked at all times. Mealtime is never consistent and meals are very poor quality. There's absolutely NOTHING good to say about this dreadful place :(
