Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital

I was with you W-Sat. My interactions with staff were all wonderfully kind and compassionate. Two nurses stand out for me , 2e Nurses Abby and Jenny, and unit sec DonnaLynn, while not a nurse also spent time with me as well. I cannot sing their praises high enough! I felt badly for them because you are horribly understaffed Next time, medical staff entered the room. It was with an apology, for how long it had taken them to accomplish my ask. And receiving what I asked, for seemed to take longer than the last time I was at Sentara. My room was not clean when I arrived. It was no toilet paper in the bathroom. There was equipment. Stored in the shower. Food service was very accommodating for my unique health circumstance. I had quite a few visitors and your staff was very kind and accommodat

Its an older hospital, no showers in the bathrooms, like I thought they had when you need to stay over night or two, no available numbing spray or lidocaine shot for some of us needing a little comfort for I.V's I had two one in each hand wirh small veins! Sentara Leigh offers that, so I thought all Sentara locations had it! The nurses and doctirs that seen me were very nice and cared for me well besides that!

I went to the ED the other week and the Virginia Beach staff was very kind and attentive. They took me in for my concern and promptly admitted me, informing me of the process the entire way. I felt safe and truly cared for and I was able to explain my situation and concerns without any rush, everyone listened to me thoroughly. Lovely hospital and staff all around, thank you kindly for helping me.

I had a very nice experience until my last night when a nurse got upset with me for some reason. I hadn’t been rude or difficult, but for some reason he was insulted by what was on my TV when he entered my room. After that the whole vide of the nursing staff changed and my care and needs were not met. I have never felt so scared, alone or helpless in my whole life. This hospital needs to train their nurses much better because their job is to care for those who are in a very vulnerable state. This experience left me unable to trust doctors and nurses at all, and caused quite a bit of emotional stress in my life. Sentara needs to do better!! I would not send anyone to this hospital.

If I could just rate the staff in the back, the bloodwork, and the registration staff (not the ones by the tablet) I would give 5 stars. We come to the hospital for assistance and the actual care team was awesome. Especially the lady who administers the medication. Made my gf feel better and smile throughout her sickly long day. And the lady at the front desk I appreciate you. You might not think your kindness doesn’t go a long way but it does. Thank you.
