Sentara Urgent Care

I am an 85 year old retired physician with a number of health problems. I got pretty sick early on Saturday morning. I drove myself to Sentara Urgent Care. I cannot compliment them enough on the care I received. I was seen very quickly and examined appropriately. The proper tests were performed and effective treatment prescribed. I was much better by the following morning, and received a followup phone call from the provider. I have great respect for the Mayo Clinic, as I have been treated there on a number of occasions. I can tell you that they could not have done a better job, and I have never felt as cared about as I was at Sentara Urgent Care.

I am writing to formally express my frustration regarding the handling of my recent referral. I visited Sentara Urgent Care three times over the course of three weeks for persistent ear infections, at which point I was referred to an Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) specialist. Following that recommendation, I spent a week attempting to contact the specialist’s office, only to be told they never received the referral. I contacted Sentara to rectify this, and although I was assured a second referral would be sent, it also failed to arrive. It took a third follow-up call—over a month after my initial visit—before the referral was finally processed. Furthermore, once the referral was successfully sent, I discovered that the physician I was referred to is retired. Additionally, the specialist's off

I accompanied a friend to this urgent care and the clinical care was excellent. The nurse practitioner was attentive, efficient, and provided high-quality evaluation and treatment. I’m reducing one star due to the waiting area, which could be improved for patient comfort. Adding vending machines would be a simple way to enhance the overall experience.

I went to the Urgent Care center for a suspected ankle fracture. I registered and was taken back. Vitals taken and examined by a PA. He ordered an X-ray. I was told to walk back down the hall out if the urgent care area and take an elevator to the ground floor for the X-ray. I was not offered a wheelchair. You’d think if they suspected me of having an ankle fracture I shouldn’t be walking on it as not to cause more damage. In the X-ray area I was placed on the X-ray table for the imaging. Never offered a lead shield for protection. Multiple images were taken and was told to walk back upstairs. I returned to the examination room. Was told I had a fracture. Never shown the images. Fitted with a boot and crutches. Was told I was to consult orthopedic surgery. Felt rushed and not patient cente

Front receptionist in outpatient center, suite 102 is extremely rude & unprofessional. She has an attitude for no reason and was extremely rude to my friend. Her name was Connie. She also yelled patient information across the lobby several times during our visit.
