The response of the emergency department was quick and appropriate. My blood pressure perked up quickly. The staff in my room served al my needs. The food was good. The hospitalist was helpful. BUT as usual the ED cart was not comfortable for my back. One complaint, I didn't get a CPAP machine even though I had asked for one and had brought my own mask. Otherwise the experience was very good.

I want to share my experience giving birth at this hospital. Unfortunately, some of the staff were very careless during my labor. I chose to have an epidural for pain relief, but it was given very late. By the time they gave it to me, I was already about 7 cm dilated and in severe pain. Another concerning situation happened with one of the nurses. She came and gave me a shot without explaining it clearly beforehand. When I asked what it was for, she said the baby “didn’t like the contractions.” After she checked me, she realized I was already fully dilated and the baby was about to come. I asked her why she gave me the shot before checking how far along I was, but she didn’t have an answer. That made me feel very uncomfortable and worried during such an important moment. ER/ cardiac care/ PCU were all great. Everyone was friendly for the most part. Everyone was willing to ask questions. food was good. Nurses were friendly & helpful. I had a heart attach and did not even know it. That said billing ha not happened yet and we are almost a month out... so that might weigh on my review but the staff and facilities were great... Also i do not know why they offered soda for every meal/ recovery snack...

My son had outpatient surgery yesterday. Our experience was exceptional. From the pre-op nurse to the post-op nurses, the surgeon, anesthesiologist, and everyone in-between, every person we came in contact with was pleasant, friendly, efficient, competent, and caring. Even though we were there late and my son was slow to feel well enough to leave, we never felt rushed. We have already received a call to check on him, and his recovery is off to a great start. We are very pleased with our decision to use Sentara RMH for an excellent quality of care.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer last June. The entire experience was very smooth and very positive. I chose Sentara after I started on medicare and I'm glad I did! I've had a positive outcome. From the Funkhouser womens center to oncology unit to the radiology unit...all wonderful. I have never dealt with anyone unpleasant. Great place for treatment!
