I am extremely disappointed with the level of professionalism and care demonstrated by the medical team and case managers at Select. The physicians appear to make only a single brief round each day, often lasting no more than a few moments, with minimal engagement or meaningful communication. This limited interaction leaves families feeling unheard and unsupported. There also seems to be a significant breakdown in communication between the physicians and nursing staff. On multiple occasions, nurses have been unable to provide clear information or updates, which suggests a lack of coordination within the care team. Our first night we were stressed, anxious parents, with no idea what to expect, but by the next morning we experienced so many caring nurses and specialty doctors, we had hope again! Our daughters nurses were incredibly attentive and kind, even during the following 2 weeks while my daughter was healing, angry, not herself, and a hard patient, they all loved her, came in to check on her when they didn’t get to care for her that day AND talked us through all the unknown that was ahead. Our case worker, Sharay, was phenomenal! She’s extremely helpful, getting us the info we needed and getting us where we needed/wanted to be, home. Dr. Veenis & Reid were fantastic as well! I would never send my mom back to this facility. The environment was unwelcoming and made her feel like she was an inconvenience. The doctor displayed poor manners and refused to answer our questions. When my grandmother asked to speak with him, he said he would not talk to her because my mom could tell her everything herself. In addition, my mom experienced a fall during her stay that could have been prevented with proper care and attention. She also went without meals, which is completely unacceptable and raises serious concerns about the quality of care being provided. Overall, I am extremely disappointed by how my mother was treated and by the lack of compassion and professionalism shown by the staff.

Oh where to begin. A 2 star is pushing it. The rooms are so tiny, folks are rude, updates and questions are left unanswered. It wasn’t the experience I thought it would be when the initial tour/conversation about expectations were set. Nurses acted liked family members had no say and taking care of a patient was outside of their job duties. The case manager didn’t care about helping. I give her props for at least letting us know in advance she runs the game not us so we could give my mother the best outcome possible. My Dad suffered a stroke and in addition to his stroke, he had covid and pneumonia. After having several setbacks at another local hospital and two other skilled nursing units and rehab facility due to my Dad's severe oxygen saturation levels and aspiration pneumonia, thanks to the recommendation of Dr. Harting, my Dad was admitted as a patient at Select Specialty Hospital.
