Select Specialty Hospital - Laurel Highlands

There are 2 patient aides, and 3 nurses, who I can honestly say are amazing. The doctors in here don’t like when the patients ask questions regarding their diagnosis either. So far this admission. I definitely would not recommend. Saturday (December 20,2025) this was the next to the last night of my admission here. When I needed something tht I couldn’t get for myself, I did as they always told me to do, which was push my call button. I understand that I am not the only patient and I know there are other patients more worse off than myself, but to have my call light button on for over 2 hrs is unacceptable. It was like they were telling me, I had over stayed my welcome. Then today (Sunday, December 21st) I asked for pain medication and zofran (Nausea medication), I originally asked at 9am,

My mother was under care at Select Specialty Laurel Highlands for just under two months, and she received exemplary care from the medical team there. From day one, they are focused on doing what it takes to get patients out of the hospital. Like many who find themselves at an LTACH, my mom arrived with a trach and on a ventilator. Over the course of her treatment, she was weaned off the ventilator and eventually the trach was removed. These people are respiratory experts, and the respiratory therapists are not only very knowledgeable about the process, but it’s also clear that they’ve seen everything and know what to do in special cases. From the moment I arrived, the entire team made me feel like family, creating an atmosphere of warmth and compassion. I deeply appreciate the thorough examination and the way I was treated with dignity and respect throughout the process. My father was sent here to continue healing from having a brain tumor removed due to Glioblastoma. My father arrived at this facility on a Wednesday afternoon from UPMC Western MD. It was Friday afternoon before he was hooked back up to Glucerna for nourishment, (48hrs. with no food), did I mention my father is diabetic, so this was the first unacceptable occurrence. My mother was promised by their representative that dad would receive physical, occupational, and speech therapies, all for the purpose of strengthening him so he could start radiation/chemo once returning home. No therapies were received!! After three weeks, we finally got my father released to a nursing home back in Allegany Co., MD. He arrived 17 lbs. lighter, (only weighed 145 when he went in), and malnourished, weak

I was a patient with Select Specialty. The nurses and aids were outstanding. They were always there to accommodate my needs. I needed alot of care believe me when I tell you. The respiratory were also a God send. The girls at physical therapy were always cheery and motivating...even though some days I just wasn't feeling like moving...they got me up & moving little by little. I would highly recommend this hospital. Thank you to all who cared for me
