I recently had my appendix removed at Sarasota Memorial Hospital at Venice, and I want to give special recognition to Dr. Sarker Sharfi, who performed my surgery. From the moment she walked into the room, she explained everything with such clarity and confidence that it immediately put me at ease. Dr. Sharfi made me feel safe, calm, and genuinely cared for during a moment that could have been stressful. Her skill in the operating room was remarkable, and my recovery has gone smoother than I ever expected. After the procedure, her communication continued to be excellent she checked in, answered questions, and made sure I understood every step of the healing process. Dr. Sarker was a bit of a disappointment. I was referred by my PCP due to a burning pain around my bi-lat mastectomy site. (My surgeon who had continued to follow me post cancer treatment, had retired). Dr. Sarker made a point of describing to me all the things she "did not do", seemingly comparing herself to my previous surgeon who treated my whole person and made sure my follow-up care was never lacking. Dr. Sarker neither offered probable explanation, testing, referral or follow up. The visit was a waste of time. I was basically told, You are on your own...find your own lumps, then call me.
