Sarasota Point Rehabilitation Center

My father-in-law was admitted to Sarasota Point Rehabilitation Center for rehab, but what we witnessed was shocking neglect. When we arrived for a visit, he was in severe distress: his underpants were soaked with blood from an untreated urinary tract infection (UTI), he had a high fever, and he was clearly in significant pain. Basic hygiene and monitoring had obviously been ignored, allowing his condition to deteriorate badly. I immediately asked staff to transfer him back to the hospital for proper emergency care. They refused to call 911 insisting I hire a private ambulance at a cost of $265 (credit card only) and wait THREE HOURS for pickup. The nurse on duty even said that if she called 911, she would "get in trouble." This response put my family member at serious risk. I called 911

This facility is extremely well run, with a great rehab team and an incredible staff. Everyone is knowledgeable, supportive, and truly willing to go the extra mile to ensure residents are well cared for. The facility is very clean and organized, and you can tell patient care is a top priority. Shoutout to the rehab team for providing excellent therapy and consistently delivering the best care — they truly love what they do, and it shows. I had a great experience here and would highly recommend this facility.

The staff was very friendly. You can tell they prioritize the care and comfort of patients. The rehab team is amazing. Very clean environment, the cleaning people kept up with ensuring the cleanliness was 10/10.

My 81 year old father with dementia was admitted to Sarasota Point recently for about three weeks and we had a very positive experience. All of the staff I interacted with were outstanding. I would check in most days with the PT /OT / Speech Therapy team and they would provide an update on his progress. While at Sarasota Point, he made significant improvements in his strength and movement. They got him back on his feet - literally. The nursing staff were all very attentive to him. Most days he ate in his room but they have a nice dining room with outdoor pavilion and there were many activities during the day going on - musicians, games etc. On several days there was Big Band music playing in the hallways which Dad loves. The worst experience, admitted 6pm my husband was back in ER after 4 hrs of being admitted from SMH for Rehab.I left him to run an errand upon returning I found him unresponsive he had removed his cannula, nurse unable to get a pulse reading.Upon arrival Explained he may try to get out of bed (to weak to do so) No bed monitor, only oxygen concentrator, nurse was extremely hyper and on the defensive. True friendly and clean.
