San Clemente Dental Group and Orthodontics

I've been going to SC Dental for years and really like most of the staff. My only concern has been the consistent turnover in dentists. I'm flexible but I prefer to see the same dentist over time. Now I've been trying to get into see the hygienist for several months. The office has cancelled my appointment for teeth cleaning twice because there is no dental hygienist available. I call and make an appointment then it gets cancelled. Now I'm told I cannot have my teeth cleaned until I see the dentist. This felt rather punitive since I'm have been very diligent about the upkeep on teeth cleaning. The Manager, Giovanni was rather rude when I complained and stubborn in his response, refusing to accept responsibility for these cancellations. I hate to change providers, but the customer serv

Beware of the upsell. New scan insurance and two free basic cleanings a year are provided to me. My dentist of 30 years does not accept Medicare. Went here and it was required I have a full set of X-rays. Office person Janette and X-ray tech Yana so nice and professional. Chad McAlpin looked at X-rays and did an exam and said I needed a deep cleaning and scaling. Lol! I had been to my hygienist last month. Scan does not pay for deep clean. He said to go to the front and my estimate quote would be printed out for me I ask for his Drs notes and diagnosis and he said he'd give them to me. Still waiting after several attempts to receive them. Going for a second opinion, calling my insurance company and reporting him to the dental board .

I needed a root canal and crown on one molar, and next to it, a full dental Implant on an infected tooth. I was in and out several times over a period of a year and 3 months, as I needed time for my infection to heal, the establishment of a dental post, more healing time etc. I was under the capable hands of Dr. Chad McAlpin the entire time. I cannot recommend him highly enough. He had a headset with relaxing music when I wanted it, and I never felt scared. He explained things so well, and he and his assistant Kiko were nice and gentle. I’m not going anywhere! I got my implant in yesterday, and I will go to Dr. “Chad”, as they call him. For everything. Thank you!

My experience here was more frustrating than anything else. To be fair, the dentist and periodontist I saw were excellent, and I don’t fault them for the problems. The dentist actually gave me some good advice on a new dental cleaning tool. The real issue was everything else: a 40-minute wait, endless upselling on deep scaling, and being told I couldn’t even get the standard cleaning that my insurance fully covers. Instead, I was presented with a $900 bill for a cleaning that was supposedly “doctor’s orders.” After an hour and a half, all I had to show for it were some X-rays, a few photos, and conversations with four or five different employees — but absolutely no treatment. I hadn't been to the dentist in years. Went in with severe pain and ended up needing a lot of work done (root canals, fillings, wisdom tooth removed) . They were transparent with everything - Dr Chad and Kiko were amazing
