Safeway Pharmacy

The reason for the three star is simple. This is a busy pharmacy with a large catchment area. They are perennially understaffed. Which makes for less than helpful experiences with prescription refill, appointments, etc. Then, they have a phone number. Press 4 to talk. They rarely rarely answer. So I mentioned this to them. It’s our policy not to answer the phone. Extremely poor management. We are choosing to move to another pharmacy.

This pharmacy has been our long time pharmacy and it’s the best. People are so friendly and helpful who work there. I see a lot of negative reviews saying they are understaffed, which isn’t true. There’s usually at least 5 people working there. Yes, sometimes it’s hard to get them on the phone but try again and you will. They’re just busy! Can’t say enough good about these pharmacy staff members though :)

The latest saga in lack of service at this pharmacy is much worse than before. Last Monday, I became quite sick and managed to see my doctor Tuesday morning. He was worried that I may have the flu (I'm 77 years old) and called in three urgent prescriptions at noon. By Wednesday afternoon with no prescription and no way to check on the status, he called again and could not reach anyone. He even called the Customer Service counter and someone said they would take a message over to pharmacy. No one called. I was continuing to get much worse, so on Thursday my doctor managed to get same-day service at Walmart, but it was too late. I spent Thursday night in the emergency room, and was diagnosed with Influenza A. I got notice that my Safeway prescriptions were ready for pickup at 3:45 pm

Worst pharmacy. They never answer the phone to call in a prescription and harass you with text messages for a refill on that same item a week after you fill it. So when you’re actually ready for your refill, you have this massive issue of trying to get ahold of them to fill it. If you go in, they try to make you wait more than a day for them to fill an asthma inhaler. It’s literally something they can grab off a shelf. So annoyed this is the closest pharmacy to where I live.

I'm happy with the prescription refills. But today I turned up for a vaccine appointment and waited 15 mins to be told they couldn't find my appt. She asked for the confirmation email which I didn't bring of course. Had to leave with no vaccine. Maybe instruct people to bring the confirmation email?
