Safeway Pharmacy

My elderly mother has been having issues with her Medicaid, resulting in a lapse in coverage. As a retired teacher, she is struggling to make ends meet. After Rite Aid closed, it has been a challenge to find a new pharmacy, but we have switched to Safeway. Due to the lapse in coverage, she has been paying out of pocket for her prescriptions, and we recently started using GoodRx coupons. Today, on June 30, 2025, the woman who helped us at the drive-up pharmacy was incredibly kind and patient. I drive my mother and advocate for her, which takes time and can sometimes be frustrating, but it is unavoidable. Most unfriendly staff I’ve encountered at a Safeway.

The worst experience of my life at the pharmacy. I have been a customer at Safeway for at least 20 years. Either Manteca or pacific ave. It took one time of me having a terrible disrespectful talk with the new pharmacist. Dont know his name but he has been there for maybe two years He is from another country, but that does not matter, I just wished I knew his name. First visit, due to medication I have been taken for over 15 years he felt he need to know why I am taking it, where is the pain, how bad is the pain...bla bla bla. Then he violated the HIPAA law speaking very loudly for others to hear the name he was calling me. He should be reprimanded for his actions. How he got to be a pharmacist I will never know. Rude Customer Service. I have been going to this Pharmacy for years. They used to be kind people with a smile. I have tinnitus and have to take heavy medication that requires many signatures. I take them like clockwork, no more no less. If you don't take them for a day or two, you will have severe withdraws. I went to pick up my prescription after seeing my Doctor that gave me the refill prescription papers with Doc signature, they say they can't refill for 3 more days because I'm too early. So after arguing with them that its been the full 90 days, they treated me like I was a drug dealer or a drug addict trying to get my "fix". Personnel always helpful...lot of new faces but all capable...have gotten my meds filled for years and vaccinations annually.
