I sought out a surgeon who could do multi-level ADR (artificial disc replacement) and/or hybrid surgeries (ADR + fusion) for a lower lumbar problem I had 4+ years ago (right hip, thigh, and knee were on FIRE often throughout the day, and my right foot was going numb repeatedly every day...PT and meds and shots did NOTHING to improve). After a referral and imaging (an MRI), I met with Dr. Tatsumi and eventually had a 3-level hybrid surgery. The recovery was FAST, there is almost no scar in my abdomen from the (anterior approach) surgery, and I was able to return to all of my activities within a couple months. Truly incredible. Terrible surgeon. Pompous, talks down and is dismissive to his patients concern. First surgery was a big failure and Tatsumi refused to answer calls after into I left a poor review. Only cares about his reputation. I am forced to get a second surgery to correct it with another surgeon

It’s been 2 years since Dr Tatsumi operated on my back. I was in excruciating pain, bed bound, and getting ready for a spinal fusion when I got a second opinion from Dr Tatsumi. Not only did he share my concerns about the specifics of the fusion that was planned for me, but he felt we should try a less involved procedure first. 2 years later and I am still pain free. I’m so grateful for his discernment and willingness to speak at length with me about my options. Fantastic surgeon, with great rapport and bedside manner.

I went to see this doctor for a second opinion for my collapsed spine. He practically refused see me no reasons given.

It's two years since my surgery and I've been waiting until now to write a review so that I could add proper perspective. I am in my 50's and was very active with cycling and running until two discs (L5/S1 and L4/L5) gave out. The first surgeon I met with thought that a double fusion was the right answer and that my cycling and running days were over. Since that was unacceptable I sought out Dr. Tatsumi and he provided me with a second opinion and surgical solution (one fusion and an artificial disc) that has not only kept me active, I've just completed my first ever Olympic triathlon :-) He is professional and clear in his communication and delivered on what he believed we could accomplish.
