Dr. Shah was my dad's dr at the VA. He was 100% disabled. He has since passed away from something that was diabetes related. After slipping and falling in his own urine he was taken to wesley ER, (because the VA was full). He was urinating all the time because his glucose was so high. He was in diabetic ketoacidocis. He also broke 3 ribs and his arm. He contracted MRSA while at Wesley and died from that. Which i feel could've been prevented by dr Shah by getting him better help with his diabetes. He was a diabetic and his memory was getting so bad that he couldn't remember to take his insulin. But she assured me he didn't have dementia, when he couldn't remember what was said 1 minute ago. I lived in San Diego and had great care and support of veterans there. I moved to the Wichita VA system. Honestly you might be better off spending a little cash and seeing a good veterinarian. It's one horrible situation after another. My psych provider says if there is an emergency and I'm not going to be ok I can go to the VA ER in Wichita or wait till Monday morning and come down to Wichita to go to the walk in mental health clinic. Sounds there is a system there to help Veterans. NOPE I was having a panic attack so bad I was shaking like someone with Parkinson's Disease. Drove the hour to Wichita from Salina and go to the ER, I had to do this in San Diego and all I did was go to the ER and they paged the on call psych doc. Really nice place to visit. The reason being, is that the staff are nice. And the architecture is a bit antiquated and nice to see. I didn’t get a chance to stay very long. But the people I met were very nice.

Why does it seem that no one is responsible there? Finally got a person on the phone with Community care and she wanted to argue. Maybe angry that I won't go away??? I don't want a therapist from NY NY or out of state. That's not community, Not mine anyway. She stated they had an office in Wichita..? Wichita is 90 miles away. May as well NOT try community care if Wichita is the closest. What logic is being used here? Recently waited 2 months for a Behavioral Health Video appointment and finally I get a therapist who isn't happy. Never smiled or any indication of humor. Doesn't want to discuss what I want to discuss and has video connection problems that occupy most of the time. The second of 3 appointments , she canceled. Thank you for taking care of my dad. He received excellent care, and the staff was very informative and accommodating. While I have only good things to say about the entire care team, one person stood out in particular during my dad's final days: Cassy W. I will never forget the exceptional support you provided. My dad had nothing but praise for this hospital and the care he received. Thank you for everything you did for him.
