Robert Honkanen

Dr. Honkanen is a fantastic glaucoma specialist. I look forward to seeing him every time I have a appointment.

After two and a half hours waiting to be seen, my wife who is diabetic needed to eat. I told the nurse and we walked out of the Commack office. After Dr. Honkanen cancelled a three month standing appointment on the Friday before Labor Day in Southampton, he is no longer my doctor. He came highly recommended, but he and his staff have no idea what medications I’m on nor have they given me ANY results from tests at my last two appointments. He should hear from my attorney for negligence!

The doctor is good at his work and his practice and he is nice, but he has no respect for his patients. If an appointment is made for 2:50 you would expect to been seen around 3:15 the latest but being seen over two hours later is disrespectful. The staff at the center are nice but waiting for hours just to talk to the doctor for no more than 15 minutes is ridiculous.

My daughter has been a patient of this Dr for a few years. Every time she sees him we make plans on sitting in a waiting room for 2 hours before being called into the office for a 15 minute chat. This happens all the time. I don’t know if it just poor time management or he doesn’t care. Ridiculous. Don’t say you weren’t warned.

Great eye doctor. Caring and competent. Wait times for Stony Brook ophthalmology tend to be around an hour or more, but for good quality eye care I don't mind the wait.
