Our son had been struggling to learn to ride a bike and felt pretty self-conscious practicing in the neighborhood, so we signed him up for Rivanna Therapy's bike clinic. It ended up being such a good decision. Carrie Lewis was incredible. You can tell right away she’s an experienced physical therapist who knows exactly how to teach kids without overwhelming them, and she made it fun! She set up the parking lot with clear markings and quick drills that kept things moving and easy to follow. By the third clinic, my son was riding on his own. He has so much more confidence now and finally believes in his ability. I’m really grateful for Carrie and her husband. Their expertise, kindness, and the fun atmosphere they created made all the difference. And for 4 lessons, the whole program was a g

Re: Laura Strauss (IEP/504 Advocacy) Our family was introduced to Laura in August of 2025 during a seminar held by Rivanna Therapy focused on advocating for your child with SPED needs. As the parent of three neurodivergent children and a social worker by profession, I felt pretty knowledgeable navigating within this space. However, I knew that after hearing Laura‘s presentation, we would benefit from scheduling a 1:1 consultation. Laura brings a level of expertise and professionalism that meets you where you are in your SPED knowledge. She has a friendly demeanor that immediately puts you at ease. These initial first impressions encouraged us to welcome her into IEP and 504 meetings for our sons.  She was a crucial advocate… at times educating the educators on services available to us by

Two of my kids just completed an intensive with Carrie Lewis, Physical Therapist, specifically in her bike riding clinic. It was an outstanding experience. Both of my kids have brain-based disability that affects their motor coordination, processing and problem-solving. One was terrified even to try to ride the bike, and the other was completely delusional in her "ability" to ride the bike and remain safe. Carrie is a warm and positive person who sets boundaries and expectations. The clinic setup was excellent, going from foundational bike safety and balance skills. The skill-building keeps them engaged by creating a scaffolded experience. Both of my girls can now ride a bike! They also have a respect for the road. Carrie provided them a bike "license," and they have carted it with pride a

Rivanna Therapy Services is an incredible resource for my son. Alexis is thoughtful, intentional, creative, and proactive in her therapeutic interventions, and my son loves going! Thank you for your patience and care in helping our family take steps forward.

Alexis has been a God sent and an answer to prayer to our family since she started working with our daughter Olani 12, first as a tutor (while she was at Kennedy Krieger) and then as her speech pathologist. Alexis worked with Olani in all kinds of settings as in different community libraries, at our residence and right now online (virtual). Alexis is an honest, patient, reliable, and professional therapist. Believe me as parents of a child with complex speech difficulties, we’ve seen our share. Our daughter Olani loves Ms. Alexis, and she loves working with her (2x/week) which is a testament to the fact that she is a great therapist. Finally, the progress Olani is showing is amazing. It’s not only being witnessed by us but I’ve been hearing a lot from her school teachers lately. Keep up
