We drove 4 hours from California after being told that the on-call ophthalmologist, Dr. Elena Geraymovych, would be available for my daughter’s urgent eye emergency. From the moment we arrived, the experience was completely unprofessional. The first receptionist was rude and dismissive, giving attitude as if we were a burden instead of a family in crisis. The entrance nurses were cold and unhelpful, and the pediatric registration clerk was worse — showing zero effort, empathy, or willingness to assist. She didn’t check with anyone, ask a supervisor, or escalate the situation. I have always had a good interaction with Front Desk staff, they are efficient and polite. The rest of my interactions with staff have been good as well, my questions got answered and I left confident in the treatments for my various visits. Sometimes it does take a while to get seen as they (like most hospitals and medical treatment places it seems) are understaffed, but the people working do their best it seems.

When you have an emergency, for large hospitals you don’t have many to choose from, Renown is a good choice if you think you will be admitted the smaller urgent care facilities would transport you to the hospital if you need to be admitted. Just for a heads up the Renown Emergency is always extremely busy and has an abundance of homeless people trying to get help. To be seen it will be a minimum of four hours to be honest more like six hours plus. Bring a book or a friend.
