Practical Dental Assisting of VA Beach

I started the fast paced program in September and I’ve LOVED this program so much! It’s super convenient and perfect for busy schedules. Our instructors name is Karen, and she is such a great teacher for dental assisting. She knows the ins and outs of it all, including the history of dentistry. Even in the short time I’ve been attending she’s taught me so much more than I could’ve imagined! In both the clinic and the classroom she has such a broad knowledge of all things dental! For the cost of the program, I’d say it’s highly worth your time. Such a great investment for your future. The program includes all the tools and information you need to succeed as an assistant, and even offers job placement. A great school, Ms Karen is friendly and very knowledgeable! She explained everything very well and made everything very easy to understand. The cost of the course was fair and affordable and WORTH IT!! i feel very prepared to pursue dental assisting 😁

The program is 99.9% a scam. Per the owner, Karen Vess, classes are 7.5 months but she will have you put 10 months for Education Benefits, so they technically you’re paying HER for your externship time. I completed less than 4 full months of this program and she demanded $10,000 in full whereas that’s not what is stated in her policy. Do NOT enter this program. It’s not DANB or CODA accredited. Karen is a rude and disrespectful “teacher” that made demeaning comments about our bodies and said I was worth nothing. She also preys on military families for her program.

The instructors and staff at practical dental assisting are amazing!!! They are very welcoming and the best people to learn about dental assisting from since they have had experience as dental assistants prior to teaching. I have learned so much in such a short amount of time since attending PDA. I am beyond excited to be able to use the knowledge the instructors have given me as a future dental assistant. If you’re looking into becoming a dental assistant practical dental assisting is the way to go!

Wonderful program! My instructor Miss Alisha is very nice, very informative and makes sure that everyone in the class understands what we are doing/learning in class before moving to a new subject. She makes learning enjoyable!
