Pottstown Hospital

A member of my family has been in inpatient care twice in the last few months. First at Pottstown Hospital in November and more recently at Penn main hospital in Philadelphia. At the time, I thought the care at Pottstown was good and I had no complaints. However, now that we have another inpatient experience to compare, I realize that Pottstown is EXCEPTIONAL! They are caring, efficient, and thorough. The doctors and nurses at Pottstown communicate well with each other and with their patients. The plan of care is organized and is clear to the patient. They do not forget to bring their patients medications. When you enter the facility, you know you are in a hospital as it is set up as a place to stabilize and begin to heal. I was delighted with the care I received. Plus between the nurses and the surgical staff, I was informed in good detail about what to expect. I would highly recommend the Pottstown Hospital to anyone having surgery. I've never been there as a medical patient, so I can't comment on that. However my partner was there as a .medical patient and he was treated with care.

No wait time. US Tech was very professional and demonstrated knowledge of her job. She was the person that did my renal scan in 2023. That's very comforting to me. Report available in a timely manner. Excellent experience.

I had my heart defibrillator changed last Tuesday and I went home the same day with no complications. After 2 1/2 days I started to lose my appetite. I wasn’t drinking food and I wasn’t eating for like the next three days. Today being fourth day I’m feeling better they gave me diuretics and BMX to help get excess fluid away from my heart and they took probably close to 1200 cc of fluid away from my heart and away from my lungs so I could take better deep breaths because that was hindered a little bit by all the fluid and it freed up my heart to be able to pump a little better which I need help with that because I do have a weak heart. Short story: The Emergency Room was good, but the follow-up Mental Health services were not, as the psychiatrist clearly did not read my elderly mother's chart (specifically the instructions from the Emergency Room doctor) to the detriment of her care. Long story: I had brought my elderly mother in on a Monday because she was experiencing paranoid delusions and incredible anxiety. After bloodwork, the Emergency Room doctor noted that my mother's thyroid levels were high, which could account for her symptoms, and that she shouldn't take any thyroid medication until the following Sunday to get her thyroid in balance. My mother remained in the hospital overnight, and I had her transferred to the Mental Health wing on Tuesday evening. Looking at the Patient Portal, I saw that my mother was
