Porter Drug is a friendly, very helpful store. You will find very nice gift items, lots of jewelry and ladies clothes, not to mention, a great pharmacist always ready to help you! I miss getting to shop there weekly!
Porter Drug in Petersburg truly is a “Good Neighbor” pharmacy. After dealing with the “Big guys” in Lubbock and Plainview for many years, finding this gem of a pharmacy nestled away in this one horse town was a badly needed breath of fresh air for me. It was like walking into the good old days not just because of the décor and the soda fountain; it is also because of the caring service by the friendly owners and staff. Unlike the big pharmacies the people at Porter Drug are never too busy to listen to my concerns and in fact they are always available to offer up friendly knowledgeable advice when needed. Porter Drug in Petersburg has remained the same since I first went in the store in 1977. In a small town that has no doctor, the pharmacist is the physician. Kim Porter bought the drug store in this town of almost 1300 shortly after he got his degree and has been faithful to his profession and to this community. You can still get a milk shake at the soda fountain. Counsel directly with the pharmacist and browse the gift shop for items straight from the Dallas Market via Kim's wife Cindy.
