Physicians Pavilion Albany Medical Center

I was a bit lost without guidance, but everyone I asked for help was super friendly and happy to answer my questions or show me the way.

NEVER ARGUE WITH AN IDIOT The specialized doctors in one unit of Physicians Pavilion saved my life and my physical integrity with their very specific surgical expertise, most all covered by Medicare. Unfortunately, the front desk nursing staff for that unit were subject to the following well-known warning for patients: "Never get into an argument with an idiot - you'll just lower yourself to their level and they'll beat you with experience." Those nurses had tons of experience in that, and in acting out at work. Fortunately the OR nurses were better - or I would not have survived. I did survive, back in perfect health from my emergency surgery. Bravo to the doctors - more mixed on the nurses.

After trying to get insurance started when I first moved to NY state, they refused to enroll me because I "already had a Medicare advantage plan for the month of February." Right, but it was in FL and I couldn't use it in NY. So I waited. Then I had an appointment at Albany Medical Center, in Neurology and met with with the one doctor in my area who can treat me, and he refused because he didn't do the surgery to implant my pump. It was implanted in San Francisco in 1998. He wasn't even in medical school yet. He wants me to start over with testing so he can re-diagnose me, and the first 2 tests are supposed to have a copay of $300, which I don't have. After I get a diagnosis, and then if he sees fit, which he already told me he likely wouldn't, he will need to remove my perfectly working p

Rescheduled me over 6 times before my appointment day came, then called me less than an hour before my extremely important appointment and cancelled on me with no rhyme or reason as to why. They want 24hr notice if you need to cancel but they won't give you the same courtesy. Extremely unprofessional and downright mean to do this to people who are suffering. Beware.

I was transferred to Albany Medical Center from my local ER by ambulance by ambulance because I was so ill and it was the worst experience ever. Once I arrived I had to wait in the ER waiting room for 4 hrs and then once they took me to a bed I had to wait another hour and a half for someone to actually see me. I spent 3 days there with nothing to eat, them not giving me all the medication I have to take and my actual neurosurgeon NEVER came to see me! I was jolted around all over the place and the tests they said they were going to do were never done. Then when they discharged me I was told I had to leave the hospital to wait for my ride which was an hour away. I was forced to wait on the sidewalk at the end of the road that leads to the ER and hospital!!! NEVER GOING THERE AGAIN!!!!
