Pennsylvania Retina Specialists

I was recently working in State College and experienced a sudden loss of vision in my right eye. A local eye doctor determined that I had a detached retina, and referred me to PA Retina Specialists. Even though their schedule was jam-packed (as evidenced by 15 or more patients in the waiting room when I arrived), they were able to schedule an emergency appointment for me almost immediately. The entire staff was friendly and accommodating. In particular, Dr Stem was great. He was informative and patient, answering all of my questions. Immediate surgery was suggested, but when he realized that I was from out of town he went the extra mile to refer me to a surgeon closer to my home. Dr truong is the only one I trust with my eye care. I went to many other spots before this one and all I can say is there is a world of difference. I love all the staff members that you deal with and even if your going to get shots in your eyes they listen to you and care and the best thing yet is they don’t hurt much at all. I just want to say thank you for all the great work you’ve put into your job and thank everyone for there kindness and dedication to the profession service that you do give.

This company misdiagnosed the my eye problem. So-->i 1 year ago-->I was referred to this company by my eye doctor, but I was shocked by the cost. Even with excellent vision insurance, I ended up paying out of pocket $270. While I understand that specialized products can be pricey, I expected more transparency about the charges. When I called and asked about the pricing, they told me they could charge anything they wanted. Additionally, I went in for a consultation and ended up being told I had macular degeneration, which wasn’t the real reason for my visit. I left without fully understanding the issue or receiving the answers I came for. So then went to another Retina Specialist 200 miles away, and the cost was much more reasonable, $75. I just want to give a huge shout out to this office! This office has a great team of professionals and I'd recommend them to anyone! This was a 2-3 hour appointment for me but it felt like it went by like a breeze! From start to finish I was always told what I was doing, what I would be doing next and a ballpark on how long my wait would be if there was one. The doctor and nurses walked me through and spoke in a way I could understand and seemed to genuinely care and want to dig deeper to find my underlying issue. Dr. Baker was absolutely wonderful, intelligent and informative, a doctor I wish I could keep with me in this journey. He reached out to my doctor in charge to report his findings and give his input of different things we could check for and referred me to a neuro-opthalmologist.

Staff is nice Dr doesn't seem to know what she is doing after 15 months and lots of money we still don't have any answers now she wants to refer us to someplace in Philadelphia also don't bother with appointments you will wait hour plus every visit
