Penn Highlands Jefferson Manor

The care is good. The nurses are very sweet and kind. BUT…someone there, who I believe is a cleaning lady is a thief. Stole money and my husbands head shaver.They also lost my husbands clothes and I had to go to the laundry room to search for them. I found most but not all of them.

My mother wound up there. She spends a fortune to live there. The nursing staff are nasty to the residents. They yell and use abusive language twords the people under their care. It's sad to see the verbal abuse twords the elderly that takes place. If they're comfortable enough to act like that twords residents infront of visitors. I can't imagine what they act like when nobody's looking. I'm actively seeking another home for her. I'm going to be contacting the state.

My 95 year stepfather has been a resident for over one year...he began in the rehab unit following a stroke, received spot on care with PT,OT and speech...unfortunately, his improvement has been slow requiring him to transfer to long term care. Incredibly, time has shown an improvement in his speech. The staff has been most supportive to him and us throughout his stay and his over health remains most stable. Throughout these past months of isolation due to COVID-19, the activities staff have engaged him in several projects to support his involvement with family and friends. His complaints of food quality supports our reduced rating at this time.

Once CoVid virus happened, it was like all other concerns ceased to exist. The home's management was unhelpful and unsympathetic . They stopped activities and it seems housekeeping as well. I recently moved my mother to another location due to their strict unbending policies. I was appalled at how dirty her belongings were. I also discovered the treat bags I was taking to her were being taken from her, she's not diabetic. I would not recommend this facility.
