Pediatrix Medical Group

Baylor delivery was great, but be aware the pediatricians they use are through Pediatrix. We just received a nearly $5k bill 8 months after delivery. We’ve also received multiple scam-like text messages with links to pay different amounts from “Pediatrix”. Yesterday was the first paper bill we’ve received. After contacting our insurance, we found out that Pediatrix showed our claim as denied but our insurance showed the claim as processed. Had I not called our insurance we would have paid nearly $5k that we did not owe. This company needs to get it together.

Incredibly frustrating experience with pediatrix billing department. This is a third party billing service that represents pediatricians at the hospital. Our family doesn’t have traditional insurance so we use Medi-share. In order to submit claims to them you have to submit CPT or ICD10 diagnoses codes. It works as long as you have the correct information. It’s been 10 months since our daughter’s birth and numerous phone calls/requests have been made to have these codes sent to us. Each time they send something it’s the incorrect information. So then we start the request cycle over again. We have called the hospital desperately requesting the codes and the hospital billing department does not have them since the pediatricians use this third party pediatrix system. It’s unfortunate the Baylor Scott and white allows these people to bill separately. And Baylor Scott and white will not inform you of this beforehand and give you any choice in the matter. Received a bill for my child being born. That bill claims it’s already past due. First time I’ve received a bill for it. Did I ever meet the provider that claims they were part of my child’s birth? No. Did they provide said service of “attendance at delivery”? No. Are they basically holding my wife’s credit history ransom to make sure we pay a less than $100 bill? Yep.

18 months later after giving birth and I’m getting a call I owe over $300 still. To say I’m mad would be an understatement. They said they have been reaching out to me monthly which is an absolute lie. I have had the same phone number since I was 13 years old and the same address for 4 years. I can afford to pay it but I’m considering getting an attorney involved just for the mishandling of this supposed owed balance.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING. Harassing a single mother whose son was born with an undiagnosed heart defect and who is just doing her best to pay for it all. Charging me for 5 days where my son had already been discharged to another NICU. Despicable business practice in general but then offering a payment plan of over $500 a month or they will send me to collections? Wonderful to know they have no compassion for anyone.
