Patient First Primary & Urgent Care - Silver Spring

I went in to have a piece of silicone earplug removed from my left ear and left with worse symptoms than when I arrived. Before the procedure, I clearly explained to Dr. Vida Falahatian that silicone is fragile and crumbles easily, and that lubrication (oil or similar) is commonly used to safely remove it. Despite this, she ignored my concerns and used large, rigid tools without any lubricant. Instead of carefully extracting the piece, she pushed it deeper toward my eardrum, causing significant pain and temporarily eliminating my hearing in that ear. I had partial hearing when I walked in. After her attempt, I had none. When I questioned her approach, she insisted this was “protocol,” even though it clearly was not appropriate for silicone material. I've visited Patient First 3 times now and have never waited longer than 15 minutes. The intake staff are kind, empathetic, and some even have senses of humor, which is refreshing. The medical staff are kind, knowledgeable, and once you are seen & assessed by them, seen quite keen on getting you diagnosed properly, given the proper medicine, and getting you in & out in a way that's respectful of your time. I've only experienced an exorbitantly long wait once and when the doctor arrived, they apologized for the wait time, then quickly got down to business by asking what brought me in that day. The doctors listen, take into account context and family environment (whether anyone at home is/was sick) and really try to chart the best course of treatment. It was so efficient. The staff knew what tests to take. I tested positive or two. The prescription s were processed on the premises, how convenient. I felt confident with my doctor and I've had a lot of physicians. All had to do was go home and get well. She even gave me a doctor's note for work!

I always have a great experience at Patient First in Silver Spring! I appreciate the quick and thorough care. They have great systems in place. Today I checked in then sat in their comfy lobby, then a tech called me in to take flu and Covid tests and my vitals, once a bed was ready I was brought back by the nurse to answer a few questions and to relax, then the PA came in and let me know I tested positive for flu, gave me tamiflu and Motrin, and now I’m on my way to feeling much better!

Very good experience at Patient First today. I got seen right away, and the Patient First team was able to quickly rule out some possible causes of my issue, prescribe a suitable antibiotic, then made an appropriate referral for me to get my issue fully resolved. All the staff I interacted with were friendly, listened carefully to my concerns and questions, and I felt confident in their skills and approach to my care.
