Not recommended for Alzheimer’s or dementia patients. Please visit on a weekend before making any decisions. Weekends and holidays are staffed by agency staffing with little training. There is very little Continuity of care from a weekday to a weekend. We have had medication issues as well as issues of my father left in bed for up to 18 hours because he is unaware of his situation and agency staffing do not attempt to get him up, dressed and taken to the bathroom. If your loved one cannot advocate for him/herself be prepared to spend weekends there helping. You become a volunteer on weekends and holidays.

Alzheimer’s wing residents are not being allowed to lead a meaningful life. Aide in rec room has been sleeping last three days. Aides not available to take my father to the bathroom so in three days he is basically incontinent. There was no continuity of care when he was transferred from his rehab because they did not have his meds available and he missed doses as a result. Accommodations for his disability are not being given because he is paralyzed on the right side and not one bathroom including his own has grab bars on left side. Very little stimulation and socializing. Noise level very high especially in his room. He stayed in his bed yesterday for over 16 hours and then was in his pajama shirt the rest of the day. The only positive is the dining staff is lovely and kind.

I was very pleased with my experience visiting at The Veterans Home in Paramus. The front desk person and her daughter assisted me in finding my way to "The Valor Wing."' Also, Michele and her entire kitchen staff were gracious and helpful in providing a delicious meal at low cost. The cook also should be commended. I had a good, fresh meal.

I appreciate them carrying for my husband, however I realize that you cannot leave a loved one in a permanent care facility and not check on them. I have had to make sure he is treated with dignity because some staff members might think they don't have to so I check on him often.

My dad who I love so much is in the Paramus location. I knew it was a great place bc the first person I spoke with was Norma. She was respectful and very professional. The staff are AMAZING!!!!! They are caring and loving. The doctors the nurses the cnas the aids are all fantastic. Place is clean. THEY REALLY CARE ABOUT THERE RESIDENTS!!! I highly recommend.
