Paonia Care and Rehab Center

We just loved the care that Aunt Opal received at the Paonia Care Home...she was a brilliant teacher for years..and the staff made her feel loved and encouraged her to still use that brilliant mind....she lived to be 105...amazing! They have so many wonderful new services and they also have great new leadership and staff.

My dad had dementia and has been here for almost two years now. The staff is very caring, welcoming, and love dad. He is safe and settled there. That makes my heart happy. Thanks Paonia Care!

I did the computer work here for over a decade and was, therefore, a fly on the wall observing the operation. There are some good people here who really care about the residents, but nursing homes are factories shuffling old people off into the beyond. Since this and most nursing homes are remotely owned they are profit making centers rather than care centers with a definite tension between local employees who try hard despite being underpaid and bean counters in upper management obsessed with the bottom line. Also, when someone visited with the flu, it easily spread throughout the facility. Home care is much more humane and is how I am dealing with my 91 year old mother-in-law.

My mother was up there over a year. Everyone was so kind and always accommodated us whenever we wanted to dine with her. She was always clean and they were always keeping us informed. For those that criticize, please remember what a difficult job they have. No need to worry about abuse here like you do in some places

This place neglected my mother in law wich resulted in her death. After she died we picked up her property and there is a lot of her property missing. If you ever get a call from them that your loved one needs a hospital, dont let the staff tell you otherwise. No matter what time it is or how much you have going on take them to the hospital. We got a call 2.5 weeks before my mother in law,passed away telling us she had been to the hospital, refused care and needed to go back. My husband got on the phone with her and convinced her to go to st. Marys. After she was convinced ( like 10 minutes) my husband talked to the nurse on duty and she told him "no nevermind we got this. Shes good." A couple weeks later she died of a severe upper gi bleed.
