Palos Heights Senior Living

Disgusted by the recent experience my family had at Palos Heights Senior Living. They were very quick to move my aunt who is suffering from dementia into the facility and accept a $10,000 deposit. Only a day or so after moving her in we learned that this facility does not support memory care and we were asked to move her back out within days. Now we are not being given our deposit back. My aunt was making $14/hour when she retired. Do you know how long it took her to accumulate $10,000?! I could understand the facility keeping a small amount of money for their troubles but this is stealing from the elderly. I do not recommend. Dealing with the decline of a loved one is already a very difficult time in our family.

We reached out to Palos Senior Living for my 72 yr old sister and initially they gave her a room in/ as an independent. We moved her in! Then they realized she should be probably be in memory care. They took $10,400 from us, but then they didn't have a room for her in Memory care, but insisted we move all her things out of the first room and now will not give us a refund. Pauline, the lady who apparently runs the place told me that we didnt give a 30 day notice . WHAT? excuse me??? Thats their excuse for not returning our deposit!!!!! They pushed my sister out and kept her money! There was no need for us to give a notice.she was never in! Spectrum, the company that owns the business, offered us $1000 of our $10,400. This Senior living center took my aunt’s 10 GRAND when she didn’t even spend ONE NIGHT here and they are refusing to give it back to her. She has dementia and needs all the money she can get for her care. Do not send your loved ones here, they only care about the money. Please, tell me how your facility keeping her $10,000 is better in your hands than a sick senior?

It deeply disgusts me that this place will take an individual’s money ($10k), have her move her belongings in, THEN evaluate her and determine she isn’t appropriate for their facility and kick her out… she didn’t stay even 1 night. THIS PLACE REFUSES TO REIMBURSE ANY OF HER MONEY. Be careful giving money to this place before your loved one has been evaluated and accepted fully into the program… you won’t get it back. How many other families did they do this to???

I would give 0 stars if I could. They moved my family member in, decided that she would need to be moved to memory care, but they didn't have the bed for her, so we had to move her out. They will not give us the $10,000 check back even though she is no longer living there. Do not send your loved one here if you want to make sure your money is being used for what you actually pay for!
