Optum Pediatrics - West Islip - Sunrise Hwy

The visit was great, except for reception. Reception was unbelievably rude and hard to work with. My boyfriend had called in for me to see if we needed to make an appointment and was met with insanely rude responses one after another. At least I know it's not just me! I walked in just to be met with the same rudeness and complete disregard. Asking me to repeat things that she missed due to chatting with the other (very nice she was a darling!!!) receptionist at the desk. I'm sure not every receptionist they have is bad, as like I said the other girl who was there was extremely pleasant, but the girl who worked with me today should really consider a different job that she likes better, and maybe she should find a bit of inner peace. ♡ TLDR: don't go here there's plenty others in the area th

I want to start saying that Dr Fuimano was great, very knowledgeable and compasionate. In the other hand medical assistance Doreen B. was so rude towards me and my child, got mad out of nowhere bcs she couldn't do her job and find the vein in my son's arm to draw blood . She start yelling at my child not to move. left the room throwing things in the garbage and later pass by the front desk when I was doing the check out and give me dirty looks. Nasty attitude , I truly don't understand why this woman acted this way. I will never come back to this place.

My four year old son has had a bad stomach bug for over a week. Dr had us take a stool sample and drop it off at the lab. We have been waiting for them to call with results. We had to call the office every day because no one called us, and were told repeatedly the Dr would get back to us but still no one ever called. Then we were told they’d call after hours on Saturday of labor day weekend cuz they were too busy to do it during working hours. They never got back to us and he still is sick so we have to wait until Tuesday to figure out what the tests said. They constantly overbook themselves, pretty much always have a long wait, and now this. Unbelievable.

Our pediatrician was informative and very kind but unfortunately as an office it is too hard to get a nurse or doctor on the phone to call back. We’ve run into issues twice calling as new parents with a 7 month old (on a Saturday and a Tuesday afternoon). In that situation I can’t recommend.

FTM- impossible to speak with someone to even set up an appointment. Their communication is already off to a terrible start. Will go somewhere else.
