Optum Pediatric Ophthalmology and Strabismus - Plainview

SCAM Alert.. I took both my son and daughter in for eye exams. My son’s visit was billed correctly, but my daughter’s was not. When I questioned the charges, the office repeatedly told me to contact my insurance company. However, my insurance confirmed that it is the provider’s responsibility to bill correctly and they process payment accordingly. I was never informed that any additional procedure would be performed, nor was I told that something not covered by insurance would be billed to me separately. There was no transparency about extra charges at the time of the appointment. Each time I call to dispute the bill they continue sending, I am redirected back to my insurance instead of receiving a clear explanation from the practice. The office staff (especially Claudia) was very nice and professional and Dr. Levi was one of the best doctors I have ever been to. She is so knowledgeable and listened to everything I had to say.You can really tell she cares about her patients. I am so grateful I found her!!!

I have never seen a more unorganized practice in my life. I don’t know what they’re trying to pull. Two days before my daughter’s appointment they said I needed a referral. So I said no problem I’ll get the pediatrician to send one over. Never heard anything so day before appointment they tell me they got it but that’s not the type of referral they need an insurance referral. Never mentioned it before. Call insurance and they say I don’t need one. Morning of appointment my insurance calls them and they say the referral from the pediatrician is incomplete. I was so frustrated I felt like they were doing everything to get me in there without the documents I need so I would have to pay so I just cancelled. I took her here a few years ago and I wasn’t too thrilled either but this is ridiculous

I've been going here for a few years now. I went today and will never go back. At our last appointment the intake person asked me if I had any concerns. I reminded them my daughter has abnormal pupils. She said ok and then dilated her eyes. Then we waited an hour and the doctor came in to see her. She asked me if I had any concerns, I explained about the pupils and she said she needed to see her before here eyes were dialated. I said I had told the intake nurse.. she left the room and came back and told me she believed me? As if I was lying about it? So she said we had to come back again bc she needed to see her without her eyes being dilated. This place is 45min away mind you. I drove today bc they scheduled me to go back today. Been going here for 3 years but I am out of patience. Horrible check in and wait times. They push overheads on client, making you fill in the same paperwork 3 times (when making an appointment, when checking in online and on paper upon arrival). Never takes less than 2 hours, by the time you get to the doctor the kid is exhausted. Today, my 3 year old fell asleep waiting for 40 mins at doctor’s office (total wait time for the visit was 1 hr 40 mins). I’ll be honest, the doctors are good, but the process and wait times are not smth I can tolerate.
