Olmsted Medical Center - Northwest Clinic and Urgent Care

A cabal of practitioners who don’t seem to care coupled with cold dispositions and hubris sprinkled about their work. Firstly, they didn’t get my appointment scheduling right. Secondly, they mentioned(won’t name names) my injury was done at the farm . I came in to get looked at due to a factory accident?! Odd. I felt like there were back door conversations going on. At the end of my appointment I was told to go to the front desk where they could set up a follow up appointment to clear me for work. The lady at desk D then stated I’d get a phone call for a new appointment setup time. Needed to go to urgent care and found them as they label this as urgent care (see photo). They said many providers called in sick and they only had one. I saw him for five minutes and he said he could run tests but because they were short staffed it would take hours. Here’s the kicker: Billed me as establishing new patient care instead of urgent care so insurance won’t cover it. I called and asked that it be reviewed and I was told I would get a call back the next week. No call back to change things, but they call up to three times a day for their money, sometimes as late as 9 pm, all of which violates law. Went to urgent care for a viral infection with concerning symptoms due to coexisting conditions. Chris Mclaren was my urgentcare provider. Very kind, easygoing, and overall great bedside manner. We were there for almost 3 hours total, but everything got wrapped up in one visit. Chris was also kind enough to put in a referral for primary care since I’m new to the area. The medical staff for the nurse and practitioner that saw us were professional and amicable while the desk staff on the first floor and lower floor were a bit distant and didn't seem to care. Also got details wrong in checking in my wife when they had her ID in front of them that the nurse had to have them correct. The reason for the 1 star is because OMC FastCare told us we needed to go to Acute Care and when we called Acute Care they said they would be able to see and treat the abscess on my wife's ear. But they literally did what FastCare would have done and not do anything to remove the swollen painful infection there, but a nurse practitioner prescribing a more powerful antibiotic. Brought my daughter in to be seen (simple throat culture). Front desk (Jodi) and Nurses Ali and Jaime were very helpful. Being a retired military man, I have been to many medical facilities around the world, and I must say I was impressed-rooms were clean and prepped appropriately; staff was attentive and respectful towards my daughter and labs were completed in a timely manner. Granted, you all must understand we arrived when they opened, so of course, time of day and number of patients are determining factors into any review.
