Novant Health East Cooper Medical Center

This place is a joke. Our elderly grand was taken there by EMS from a so called rehab facility that was neglecting him, he had lost 30 lbs in 6 weeks. The hospital stated we had to either take him home which could not be done, the residents are not equipped for a wheel chair or go back to the facility where he was being neglected at or leave him and be charged with abandonment. WTH. All we needed was them to admit him for a day and a half until we could get him to a good facility on Wednesday. Apparently him losing 30 lbs in 6 weeks does not qualify as a medical need for admittance. They would rather you die of neglect than try to help an elderly patient with dementia. Stay far away from this place. I never thought I would see a place worse than Trident Hospital but here we are. What a jo

Took my girlfriend for a UTI they ended up charging her $22k. Made it a level 5 emergency room visit to get the max amount of money possible. Ordered a $10k CT scan for no reason when the urine test showed it was a UTI. Then proceed to not show an itemized bill till we filed a complaint with the general attorney. They were unwilling to help her with the payments and told her to pay the remaining amount or they going to send it to collections to ruin her credit. I would give them a 0 star review if possible but 1 is the minimum.

*UPDATE: after they commented on this review to reach out them (I did), I still have heard NOTHING at all back. So I stand firm in my disappointment with this business and am saddened that all of my providers at East Cooper have been bought out by Novant.* I am extremely disappointed with my entire experience here. I came here for a procedure with a doctor from Lowcountry GI (also part of Novant). A woman named Kita- assuming insurance/billing coordinator for the Medical Center called me to go over fees for scheduling- to discuss my “financial liability” as she put it. She stated my out of pocket portion after insurance was going to be $770-something. I asked if she was sure because I could not afford/did not want to do this surgery if it was going to be more. If I can put 0 stars I would!! My aunt went in for stomach pains and nausea and they sent her home with pain meds! Went home the situation got worse and she went to another hospital the next day! They ran a cat scan and found EXACTLY what the issue was! It was worse than what we thought and she had to have emergency surgery the next day! Stay away from this hospital! They don’t care to listen to you or your concerns and will leave you bleeding out in the lobby if they could! COMPLETELY unprofessional & unethical!

I have never been to a facility that had such kind, compassionate professional people. My 25 year old son was admitted here. The ER staff was attentive and patient. The nurses were truly the most kind and compassionate medical professionals I’ve ever met. I wish I could send each of them personal thank yous! Dr Watson performed emergency surgery on my son. Kind, extremely knowledgeable and patient. I know we are in a big medical community, but hands down I would strongly recommend East Cooper Medical Facility!
