Nada Elbuluk

Update: I am lowering my review from 2 to 1 stars. Since seeing Dr Elbuluk, I’ve found a new dermatologist who actually listens and respects my research, and isn’t condescending. The new derm diagnosed me with a condition that I had actually raised to Elbuluk but she rudely dismissed with a comment and attitude I’ll never forget. Thankfully the new derm is prescribing a specialty medicine that works really well. I was actually referred to Elbuluk because of her reputation, but I think it’s just marketing and hype.

She has cancelled on me 3x, and each time she cancels my appointments that are scheduled 3 MONTHS minimum out because she’s so “backed up,” the onus is on me to reach out and find a new time. The office does not reach out to me even though they’re the ones cancelling on me. Absolutely ridiculous, and frankly, gross. Sometimes it feels like doctors in LA view this as more of a business than life-saving help. Better luck finding a doctor that cares about your time and health!

Doctor is booked months in advance. I waited 3 months to be able to see her but no worries, I know these kind of things tend to happen in bigger hospitals. What annoys me is that after waiting 3 months, she was 30-40 mins late to see me after being called into the room from the waiting room. On top of that, she rushed the entire appointment and would catch an attitude when I had questions or wanted more clarification on what the plan for care was. As someone who has many allergies to medicine, I am not gonna start on any medication without understanding the risks and what it does... I've learned my lesson the hard way with that (hospitalization). But Dr. Elbuluk, didn't have time to answer the basic questions and when she did she had an attitude/was snarky. She is absolutely wonderful. You may wait months to see her but that is not her fault. We need more students of color going into the field of dermatology. The wait is worth it. She explains the process with detail. She deserves all the praise (well most of it). Her medical staff are great as well.
