Mount Vernon Pharmacy

While we've not needed an urgent prescription and do not take any regular medications, my family has always had a positive experience here, we've been served promptly, and get our one-off prescriptions filled in a timely manner. So grateful to have a pharmacy in our small town!

I called there last December 23rd with an emergency request for my hospice foster dog who had developed glaucoma with painful eye pressure. I had called the chain stores and they all told me that you will never find this medication ( I usually get it through the French Bulldog Rescue Network- with over 500k in vet bills annually, they get it wholesale.) But I had run out late on 12/23, in the middle of an icy storm. I called Mt.V Pharmacy and explained the situation, apologized for my desperation and they stopped me, did they had it in stock and would have it ready before closing. I am forever grateful and will never again take the word of a pharmacy tech at CVS/WalMart/etc.

I use automatic renewal via phone and have always had my prescription filled in a timely manner. I also find the automated phone call telling me my prescriptions are ready very useful. I have also used their service for vaccinations and have been very pleased.

This pharmacy has gone through many changes with staff and even the location making for a few rocky years. I'm so glad I stuck with them as they have improved immensely, especially with their sync program! I manage medications for multiple people, with frequent changes in medications and dosages so I think it's fair to say I'm probably one of their more challenging customers to stay on top of syncing medication refills, insurance intricacies, communicating with doctors, and checking in with me to to keep it all running smoothly. At this pharmacy, I know who I am talking to when I call and they know who I am and all of the medicines/people I manage. Customer service has been going down for years but our final last straw today was when after finally getting insurance pre-approval and being told it would be done in the morning, my husband went to pick up my sons adhd patches at the end of the day on a Friday and was told “we won’t fill this because it’s too expensive and we would lose money on it.” We were never called to be told this, I had called the pharmacy multiple times to check on insurance updates and was never told this, and now we have to scramble to have it filled for school Monday morning. Guess that’s what we get for trying to support local, unfortunately Walgreens will have our business from this point forward.
