I would highly recommend Monterey Palms for a rehabilitation / skilled nursing facility. From the attentive and kind Director of Nursing, to the calm and caring CNAs, to the welcoming Receptionist, to the cool Physical Therapists and fun Occupational Therapists, to the patient and dedicated Nurses, to the punctual transportation team, to the informational admissions and billing rep, to the sweet and understanding social workers, to the caring nutritionist /culinary team, and to the friendly Doctors on duty, everyone was professional and a pleasure to work with. My loved one was under the care of the team at Monterey Palms for over three weeks. I felt confident and comfortable that the team was taking care of him and checking in on him frequently. I highly recommend Monterey Palms healthcare. I have had my elderly parents in several other healthcare facilities in the area. The compassion and care Monterey Palms provide to the patients from the very beginning with the admissions coordinator to every person we interacted with was amazing. When I would phone, the answering staff were extremely helpful. The room was large and very clean. The staff were constantly in the room and so compassionate throughout my dad’s two months stay. Although he insisted on leaving the other rehab centers in the past, he was extremely happy at Monterey Palms. My mother was a resident at Monterey Palms for approximately 3½ months (late 2025 through early 2026) for treatment of stage III and IV bed sores, post-colostomy recovery, and multiple other complex medical conditions. During her stay we witnessed chronic understaffing, neglect, and serious lapses in basic nursing care. Call lights routinely went unanswered for 30 to 60 minutes or longer. On multiple occasions I arrived to find residents parked in wheelchairs at the nurses’ station with no staff in sight, while the available nurses were on their personal phones. During one of the most difficult times of my life, including the loss of my son, the staff provided me with incredible care, compassion, and support. The therapy department was outstanding in helping me regain my strength and independence. Thanks to their dedication, I was able to recuperate back to my prior health and was able to transition into an assisted living home. I will always be grateful for their patience and encouragement. My father was at Monterey Palms for three months. He came in as a skilled patient and, unfortunately, declined over time until he transitioned into hospice care. During that entire journey, I saw the dedication and compassion of the staff. From the therapy team working hard to help him regain strength, to the nurses who supported him through his decline, their commitment never wavered. The nurses were incredible knowledgeable, empathetic, and deeply compassionate. They treated my father with dignity and care, and they treated me like family.
