I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in 2020. The middle of Covid! Everyone at Tahoe Forest recommended Dr. Chu to conduct the mastectomy. I was lucky enough to be taken on by Dr. Chu as a patient as TFH was absolutely right. I live an active life and I was worried about how the surgery would affect me. She was extremely thoughtful and caring. She answered all my questions, and is the first doctor of any specialty that really took the time to listen and actually HEAR ME. You don't find that level of compassion and understanding today with doctors. She is brilliant as well. The surgery was a complete success and I didn't need follow up cancer treatments. Getting a diagnosis of breast cancer was devastating and frightening. Dr. Chu was recommended to me and from the first contact with her amazing staff, I felt comfortable and calmer. Dr. Chu explained everything so clearly that I never felt the need for a second opinion. As we discovered more to the diagnosis, she was informative and detailed with the choices and procedures. Her staff, from the scheduler Alex (the miracle worker!) to Jenn and Lorena, were always compassionate, respectful, and prompt. They understood how "time" worried me and responded appropriately. Arranging for a plastic surgeon to begin work immediately at my mastectomy surgery was also a relief and showed the caring understanding commitment of this entire team.
