Metropolitan Dermatology - Scotch Plains

I was referred to Dr. Drossner years ago, during one of the most frightening health experiences of my life. I arrived to her office alone at age 21, my body already covered in lesions that were rapidly spreading, and that would later be diagnosed as a rare and potentially serious inflammatory skin disease. From the moment she opened the door, I was met with dismissal and detachment. She took one glance at me, and said flatly, “ Relax, I don’t think you have anything terrible. You don’t need to look so scared.” It was not said gently. It was not meant to comfort. It set the tone. During the exam she made almost no effort to explain what she was seeing. As a matter of fact, she raised her eyebrows so frequently I finally felt compelled to ask her thoughts. She replied with almost a chuckle “

One of the brightest and most personable physicians I have ever met. She cares deeply about her patients and spends appropriate time with them, never rushing one out the door. Even though I moved 70 miles away from her area of practice I continue to drive all that distance because I just cannot find an equal in the area where I live. I have highly recommended her to many friends and family members.

I have been a patient of Dr. Drossner's for over three years. Recently her office staff has changed and unfortunately it has had a terrible impact on my experience there and I would never recommend her. I left multiple messages last week to schedule an appointment and my calls where never returned. I called again this week and got a hold of worker and asked for the doctor to call me. Instead another worker called me back. I am so disappointed after three years as a patient that my own doctor could not be bothered to call me back to speak with me. Did I mention her office visits cost $200+ and she does not take insurance? I requested my files and was told I had to come to the office and fill out a form to receive them. I have no idea how good the Dr. is but what I can tell you is dealing with them is horrible. It has been about two months since I had my test sent away. I had to open a complex portal to get the results. They finally came in and I can not understand them. Calling them lasted about 7 minutes on hold before I hung up. The portal sends me lots of spam. I need to drive there to speak to someone to get the results. By the way, it is the worst medical portal I have encountered.

I have been seeing Dr. Drossner for more than thirty years. I have always received kind and courteous attention. I don't understand giving the Dr. a 1 review for a new staff issue. I am assuming they are in the process of training the new hires. I think it is helpful to note the quality of care and expertise the Dr. provides. Dr. Drossner is very good in her area of practice. I know that I can trust that I will receive the best care regarding my skin issues. One review I read noted that they didn't like how "tall" Dr. Drossner was. Again, not something the has anything to do with quality of care.
