Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry

I have been going to this dental school for years. The students are incredibly, kind, and well knowledgeable. The doctors/teachers do a great job at encouraging them and backing them to create a safe environment. People have to remember they are students and your appointment usually takes up to 4 hours, to provide the students with experience and teachable moments. Have grace!

🚨 MALPRACTICE WAITING TO HAPPEN 🚨 READ THIS I went in for a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PROCEDURE. Not wisdom teeth. Not extractions. NOTHING involving pulling teeth. A student comes in and starts insisting on removing my wisdom tooth. I tell her multiple times that’s not why I’m here. She keeps pushing. Five minutes later she admits: • She was confused • She was being rushed 🚩🚩🚩 I asked to reschedule because I don’t want anything rushed in my mouth. They didn’t want to let me leave. I literally had to beg to get rescheduled. I spoke to the manager after. He said students shouldn’t be removing anything… then immediately defended it with “Maybe they saw something wrong with your wisdom teeth.” MY GUY. MY WISDOM TEETH WERE NEVER EVEN PART OF THE VISIT. I had one of the best experiences while visiting the Meharry Medical College School of Dentistry today. My student Dentist Bri was very engaging, had a great attitude and exuded positive vibes. I'm sure she is on her way to becoming a fine dentist. Also, the other staff members were great, the places was clean and I love what they are doing for the community and individuals who may need to visit a dentist but, may not have dental insurance and/or the finances to receive dental work.

The absence of a consultation opportunity was noted, and I was not presented with any financial options, such as contacting a friend or utilizing Care Credit. Initially, I was unaware of the amount due. When asked about immediate payment, I was uncertain regarding the specific charges. I perceived the situation as coercive, with a choice presented between immediate payment or departure. It was quite embarrassing to be at the payment window in full view of others, creating an impression of a declined card. The cost presented was unexpectedly high. My visit was for partial fittings, and we had not discussed the specific requirements. Consequently, I had to decline the service. I arrived on time for my 1pm appointment, checked in and paid up front $150 because i have no dental insurance. i filled out my paperwork and waited in the patient waiting room for an hour an a half before asking where i was on the waiting list as everyone that arrived after me got called before me. they then proceeded to tell me that someone had recorded me as a no show and cancelled my appointment. they told me i would be taken back soon. after another half hour they finally took me to the back where i again proceeded to wait for another two hours. during my wait behind a closed curtain 4 different dental techs peeked behind the curtain but said nothing to me. they only pulled back the curtain to see if someone was waiting behind it. i proceeded to wait in total 3 and a half hours before
