One of the greatest comforts was the low staff turnover. After coming from a facility where new faces appeared weekly—what I jokingly called “rent‑a‑nurses”—it was reassuring to see the same dedicated people caring for my aunt day after day. My time working at Medilodge left me very concerned for resident safety and staff wellbeing. The facility often ran with unsafe staffing ratios, even counting student CNAs as full staff and giving them full assignments alone. Call lights frequently didn’t work, and on memory care staff can’t leave the floor, meaning there’s no way to see call lights or respond quickly. Memory care residents often sat for hours with no activities, and supplies were constantly short — wipes weren’t ordered, briefs were often the wrong size, and we frequently had to use washcloths, including rough ones even on residents with stage-four wounds. Thank you just isn't enough to express my and my family's gratitude for the care provided to my niece and now my sister too at Richmond Medilodge. It's so hard to take care of very sick and immobile patients with multiple illnesses. For over 3 years my niece has lived at Richmond Medilodge and now for 2 weeks my sister also. Both are in severe pain with serious problems. The staff at Medilodge does everything possible to assist and ease their pain needs. Neither are easy people to take care of. I want to thank everyone there for always helping them including toileting needs. Sunday we had my mom's 91st birthday party in a dining room. Worst place ever!! I brought my dad for a quick rehab and got him settled at 7:30 pm. My sister and I went the next day around 1 and he was laying sideways in his bed, absolutely filthy and the nurse never responded to our request for over an hour. His emergency button wasn't responded to either. I would never take anyone there. They are completely incompetent and people are left there to waste away.

Horrible place to place a loved one. The facility barely keeps anything stocked for their aides. The food is horrible and nothing you should be feeding your family. And the management , especially the DON Tara are horrible to deal with and are willing to fire anyone who are considered good staff and replace them with those who are family. Call light times are God awful, it takes staff well over an hour to even come in the room when they are all congregating in main areas talking. This place is horrid, dont place a loved one here.
