Med First Primary & Urgent Care - Smithfield

I have an autoimmune deficiency. I am new to the area as well as this insurance. Appt with April Jackson I went prepared, I did not know how much time is allotted for an initial evaluation so I gather as much details about me to leave with her. She carefully reviewed the information, we discussed which referrals I needed and she told me that her best communication would be through the patient portal. I was able to see the information I left was added to my file, she ordered lab work, bone density along with the referrals discussed. I have already received a phone call from one of my referrals actually the most important one at this time (cubital tunnel). She listened and went into action. I am happy with her care. I have been going here for so long for the UrgentCareSide, so honestly i hate to leave this negative review but I have to be honest. I chose to use the primary care side of this office. Dr. Corrie Hansen has been great. She gave me a physical in the Spring. She treated me four weeks ago for Shingles. My problem is that last week I was on the verge of running out of Gabapentin. There is absolutely nothing that I can buy over the counter for the pain that I am going thru. I called the office on Thursday, last week,and left a voicemail with Clinical, basically,I am fixing to be out of Gabapentin and I was prescribed 100mg three times a day, I have had to double up the pills. I requested another prescription but a higher dosage. The message said they would respond in 1 business day. So Friday

The nurses and provider are great, but the receptionist answers the phone as if she hates life, and she almost turned away my son who was literally doubled over and crying in pain because she just assumed he was too young to be treated (6 yo). She looked at me like I was dumb for bringing my son to urgent care because he needed… urgent care? Receptionists make or break an experience and I would suggest hospitality training, especially since you’re dealing with people in pain and discomfort. No one wants to be glared and huffed at by the receptionist for seeking help.

I called and was told I could schedule an appointment. I did. When I arrived, I was told it'd be 1.5 hour wait as it's first come first serve. I said I had an appointment and was told it doesn't matter. SO WHY HAVE APPOINTMENTS? I drove to a different urgent care and was treated promptly. I will NEVER go back to this place. Don't waste your time scheduling an appointment!

As soon as I said I had an appointment, I was told it would be a long wait even though there were only 3 other people in the waiting area. The receptionist has an attitude so bad, that alone would put you off from this place. Truly awful. I waited three hours just to be told I have the flu and to alternate between Tylenol and Ibuprofen. And of course they didn't accept my insurance so I paid $350 out of pocket, which was the cherry on top.
