Med First Primary & Urgent Care - New Bern

The front desk staff were very friendly and courteous. When I arrived for my appointment, the wait time was minimal. The Nurse was nice and wrote down my issues. Dr Blake was thorough and knowledgeable. She ordered X-rays and the techs were very professional and took their time, because I was in pain. Dr Blake found what the issue was and addressed it immediately. The prescription was called in, and it has helped tremendously!

Medical staff is great but the admin and billing can be a bit haphazard. They did not properly document my 4 insurance carriers and it caused big billing problems. Not sure if they are short handed. But at the end they finally straightened out the billing error.

I am a 9 year patient of Med First on Glenburnie Road in New Bern and highly recommend them. There have been many times that I have walked in with a severe sinus attack and was glad that I could sit and wait 2 hours to in order to be fitted in while they were over run with sick people in the lobby as well as people sitting in their cars sicker than me. Over the years I have seen different nurses and providers and the quality of care has always been exceptional. Monday January 26th I went in at 8:15 am hoping for an appointment sometime during the week and the nurse at reception told me she had a 9:00am appointment that day and I knew I was lucky. I appreciate the chance to schedule a new patient intake with Dr. Wendell Richardson. I showed up 20 minutes early to the appointment. Completed new patient paperwork, and with 5 to 10 minutes before the scheduled appointment, I just checked to make sure we'd be on time. Front desk staff said they are running a little behind. So I pressed further to get a timeline because I had a hard stop for another appointment within the next hour. Front desk staff returned and stated the doctor is running a half hour behind. Unable to change my next appointment, I simply asked for a refund. She wasn't 100% sure they could offer the refund but put in a request. I would not recommend this location, especially for children. I scheduled a same day appointment for my 4 year old, which has been seen here before. I waited almost an hour after my appointment when I finally went up to the front desk lady to ask why everyone that had appointments after me were being taken back. She came back out and said they weren't sure if they could see my son because they didnt know if he saw 4 and up or 5 and up. So after waiting an hour they've failed to tell me if he can even be seen and clearly weren't planning to tell me since they bypassed his chart to call other people.
