Customer Reviews
This Hospital is a demonstration in Human excellence.I underwent a procedure to remove a zenkers verticulum pouch in my throat performed by Dr.Ekbaum.Professional at his finest and a great person. The nursing staff is incredible. They listen to your needs, knowing patients understand our situation uniquely and the small details are so important! The room I stayed in was huge and clean as it can be. The couch for loved ones visiting is a full size pull out sleeper. Just last week, visiting and caring for a loved one in a different hospital was very inhospitable. The difference between mayo and other hospitals is concerning.Everything makes sense here and I believe the Lord has his hand on Mayo.If there is insurance holding you or a loved one back from receiving care from this place, do try
World-Class Care with Compassion Over the weekend, I went to see my nephew who went through Open Heart Surgery at the Mayo Clinic and St. Mary’s Hospital. They provided him an extraordinary level of medical care, combining cutting-edge expertise with deep compassion. Every doctor, nurse, and staff member we encountered was professional, patient, and truly invested in our well-being. The coordination between departments is seamless, and the attention to detail is unmatched. St. Mary’s feels more like a healing sanctuary than a hospital. We’re incredibly grateful for the care received here, a truly a place of hope and excellence.
World-class professionalism… World-class talent… even just operationally it’s maybe the best-run anything I’ve ever encountered… and then on top of it all there’s this Minnesota culture that’s just naturally kind and friendly and happy with a dose of humility about it. *Everything* is done in a way that’s just profoundly thoughtful. The surgeries that I and my relatives have had done here have all gone perfectly, and in multiple cases they caught complications that other doctors/facilities have missed that made the difference in achieving a positive outcome. It’s a very special institution manifested daily by very special people. (The East Control Desk 1 waiting area vibe could maybe use some new furniture or something… it’s not bad as waiting rooms go, but sitting in there and looking
Travis McKenzie and team Hossein Gharib and team Katherine and all the nurses and Staff in the first room and then in the surgery room and then in the recovery room. The security. The admissions personnel. The valet. The facility. There is a movie by Ken Burns about the Mayos and their hospital and if you get a chance to see it please do. The spirit of the Mayos and the Franciscan nuns who founded this still is strong!! Do I sound like someone who was healed? I am. I thank God for Mayo Clinic and Hospital!!
Patient received genetically, metabolically and enzymatically contraindicated medications (straight from the 'allergy' list) that cannot be processed by the body under any circumstances during a "routine" bronchoscopy, despite protestations that they were strictly contraindicated, and was put into respiratory arrest on the operating table, requiring the use of an emergency cuffed wire spiral endotracheal tube to save patient's life. Then they lied about it in the chart to cover their backsides, calling respiratory arrest "apnea" and rescue intubation "being masked for a few minutes". You don't get intubated for apnea. You get intubated in an emergency. Mayo cares more about their "success metrics" than they do their actual patients. The three Doctors Mayo must be rolling in their graves to
